On Saturday, April 14, 2012, Five of Five’s Artist of the Year, Monroe, was featured on KCSN 88.5 FM during Jim Nelson’s Morning Music Mix Show. The ten-minute feature consisted of an interview and the radio debut of two new Monroe songs, So You Understand and Don’t Run. Monroe’s debut radio broadcast is truly a milestone for both Monroe and Five of Five, as they look to build a lasting relationship with KCSN and other local music supporters.

Five of Five Music Entertainment put a spotlight on their sponsored artist, Monroe, as they dropped their self-titled EP on March 30, 2012 at the historic Los Globos club in Silverlake. This collaborative effort that began just half a year ago has hit a high note with a great turnout, awesome opening acts (Nelli Bow and MIS Alumna Angelica), and a killer performance by Monroe. The unique chance to get up close and personal with Monroe, Five of Five Music Entertainment’s artist of the year, was as awesome as their music was groovy. The votes are tallied, and Five of Five Music Entertainment is proud to announce Monroe to be the winner of this year’s talent search contest. Meticulously chosen from over 70 applicants, Monroe received the popular vote among the Showcase audience members as well as the unanimous vote from Five of Five’s staff. Originating in Boston where the members met at Berklee College of Music, Monroe has a great blend alternative rock with dashes of funk and hip hop, and an enviable track record of performances spanning across southern California. Five of Five staff and the band members of Monroe are both extremely excited for their forthcoming partnership and mutual successes. Keep up-to-date with everything Five of Five and on Facebook.
V/V Music Entertainment (VVME) held its annual Talent Search Showcase concert at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on the CSUN campus. Featuring local developing artists Adrienne “Aeb” Byrne, Free Food, Cameron Hovsepian, and Monroe, this production also included performances by DJ Vinyl Fantasy (aka: MIS student Juan Carlos Alvarado) and the award winning CSUN Hip Hop dance team. With the increase in audience capacity (from 180 to 500), the implementation of video elements throughout the show, the inclusion of audience text voting, and incredible musical performances from the artists, this year’s showcase was a giant success and represented a significant step forward for VVME. A special thanks to all who attended, including special guests and music industry VIPs, esteemed faculty and staff, MIS students and alumni, fellow music majors, friends and family. CheckVVME’s website and Facebook page in the coming days to stay up-to-date with the announcement of the winning artist.
